Comparing St. Pete and Nice from a Digital Nomad’s Perspective

by Lucence, JiE Business Technology Research | Audio Narration

If you’ve ever considered setting up your laptop in a warm, walkable city by the sea, there’s a good chance that downtown St. Pete, Florida, or the vibrant Cote D'Azur city, Nice, France, has crossed your mind.

During Jim Intriglia's sabbatical break, he shared his thoughts with me about his three-year Saint Petersburg coworking experience, and his 10-week coworking experience during his visit to Nice, France.

What makes his experience insightful was his engagement in the St. Pete and Nice coworking experience, as a member of the community.

My Role as Collaborator and Editor

I supported him during this explorative and learning journey, surfacing credible research, and sharing my insights.

As the leadwriter for this column, I wrote this introductory column in its entirety, based on our collaborative deep-dive subscriber article that details Jim's findings and my shared insights.

What St. Pete and Nice have in Common

Walkability. You can access most coworking spaces, shops, and cafés within 15–20 minutes on foot.

Reliable Transportation. From the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) in St. Pete to extensive tram and bus routes in Nice, you won’t need a car.

Coworking Access. Both cities offer flexible coworking memberships, 24/7 in some cases, with options tailored for professionals who work across global time zones.

What Makes Each City Unique

In St. Pete, private office space is often part of the package. You can close the door, crank out a deadline, or take a client call without distraction.

In Nice, you may find less private office availability— and more community-driven layouts that reflect local work culture and shared values.

These differences matter more than you might think—and they aren’t necessarily drawbacks.
